Kia K5 Dashboard Light Guide

Kia K5 Dashboard Light Guide

Your dashboard lights are on your side, literally and figuratively. Easily located right in front of your Kia K5 steering wheel, you’ll always have a clear view of the symbols. This way, when they light up, you can quickly address the issue.

Sometimes, however, the symbol is difficult to decipher and you may not know what the issue is. Need service? Schedule a service appointment today!

At Kia of West Chester, we don’t want drivers in West Chester, Philadelphia, or Ardmore, Pennsylvania to struggle to understand what those symbols mean.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of warning and indicator lights that are on the Kia K5. Now, you can save some time in Springfield or Exton, Pennsylvania, or even across the border in Wilmington, Delaware. Wherever you’re located, we hope this guide will help you translate what your vehicle is telling you.

Air Bag Warning Light

The Air Bag Warning Light looks like a large circle hovering over a passenger. That large circle represents the air bag, and if the light appears, it’s calling attention to an issue with this essential safety feature.

Air bags play a crucial part in protecting both you and your passengers. As a result, you always want them to be in proper working order in the event they need to be deployed.

If you see the Air Bag Warning Light, stop by our service center to get it fixed so you and your passengers can rest easy knowing that everyone is protected.

Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light

Engine Oil Pressure

The Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light looks like a can of oil with a long spout. Should you see this light, your oil is running low and needs to be refilled.

This requires pulling over to add more oil, or calling your local Kia dealer for further assistance. The light should go away once oil is added, but if it doesn’t, more help is needed.

You do not want to harm your engine, so you need to leave the vehicle off until help arrives. Once a technician from your local Kia dealership reaches you, they will make the best determination for the next course of action.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist Warning Light

If you have Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist on your Kia K5, the symbol shows one vehicle approaching the vehicle in front of it. There is a star above and a left-pointing arrow below.

This light on your dashboard means you may have accidently shut the feature off. Turning it back on should remove the light.

Still, if the light continues, it may be that dirt has clouded the sensors, and they can no longer detect other vehicles. Simply wiping the sensor clean should solve the issue.

The feature might ultimately be broken if none of the previous solutions work. Our team is happy to look this over, as we know the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is an important feature to keep you safe on the road.

High Beam and Low Beam Indicator Lights

High Beam Light

Both the High Beam and Low Beam Indicator Lights look quite similar, so it’s important to distinguish between the two.

The High Beam Indicator will show a half-oval shape with five lines shooting straight out to the left. Alternatively, if you have the Low Beam Indicator Light on, it will show up as a similar half-oval shape with five lines pointing slightly downward and to the left. These just indicate that the high or low beams are on, respectively.

Additionally, if your Kia K5 has High Beam Assist, you’ll see the same High Beam Indicator Light described above with the word AUTO underneath. You can choose to leave this setting on continuously, during which time the light will stay on.

Master Warning Light

If there are issues with your High Beam Assist, LED headlamp, or any of your lamps, for that matter, you’ll see a triangle with an exclamation mark in the center light up to let you know. This is called the Master Warning Light.

You’ll want to know what issue it has detected, and it should tell you on your Kia car’s LCD display. Once the issue has been resolved, the light should disappear.
