Kia Sorento Dashboard Symbols

Driving a sporty SUV like the Kia Sorento around the West Chester, Philadelphia, and Ardmore areas? It’s easy to love the car you’re driving when it’s a Sorento. However, when a dashboard light turns on, you may be wondering what your car is trying to say. With so many different dashboard symbols, you may be looking for some guidance prior to your travels near Springfield, Exton, and Wilmington. Jim Sipala’s Kia of West Chester is taking a closer look at some of the important dashboard lights you may come across in your travels.

Sorento Dashboard Lights

Generally speaking–and this goes for any car on the road–orange or yellow lights describe a potential issue with your vehicle. A red light is a more serious concern and should be attended to as soon as possible. Blue, white, and green lights often let you know a certain feature or system is activated, like cruise control or high beams. Below, you’ll read more about some of the symbols you’ll come across in your car.

Engine Oil Pressure Warning

This light warns you of an issue with the oil pressure or the oil itself. If this light has turned on while driving, it’s best to pull over in a safe place and turn the car off. Then, call our service center for assistance. What to look for? The oil can shape of this symbol is easy to spot.

Low Tire Pressure Warning

Tires need to be properly inflated to maximize performance and ensure proper wear and tear. If this yellow light has turned on, at least one of the tires is not properly inflated. It’s a good idea to check all four tires, adding air as required. If the light stays on, then it may be due to a leak or puncture, which our service technicians can investigate. What to look for? This looks like an exclamation point surrounded by parentheses.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

The gas light will turn on if your Kia is running low on fuel. Take a trip to your nearest gas station to fill up as soon as possible, and you’ll be good to go. What to look for? This light is shaped like a fuel pump.

Check Engine Light

Is your check engine light on? This is probably a question or phrase you’ve heard dozens of times in your life. It may also be known as the malfunction indicator lamp. If the light remains on while driving, it should be treated like any of the other orange lights, and you should reach out to our service center as soon as possible. If the light is flashing and does not turn off, the engine may be misfiring. What to look for? This light is shaped like your engine. Contact us to schedule a service appointment as soon as you can.
