History

First founded back in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry, Kia used to be known for manufacturing steel tubing and bicycle parts. Kia Motors America was incorporated in the U.S. in 1992, with some of the first Kia models hitting dealership lots in Oregon back in 1994. Since then, Kia has expanded one region at a time, with over 100 dealerships by 1995. They’ve become a true powerhouse, and in 2016, Kia model reliability ranked first in J.D. Power and Associates’ rankings, making it the first non-luxury automaker to top the list since 1989. Hyundai Motor Company was first established in the late 1960s, with the first model released in cooperation with Ford in 1968. Hyundai made its first appearance in the U.S. in 1986, with the Excel model receiving top marks for its affordability and reliability. Since then, the brand has continued to evolve, creating a range of vehicles from smaller sedans to large SUVs.

Lineup

If you’re on the hunt for your next car, browsing the Kia or Hyundai lineups can be a great idea. After all, these cars are peppy, sporty, and come with all the latest features and amenities that you’re looking for in your next car. In the Kia inventory, there’s the Kia Rio, which is a sporty sedan that’s on the smaller side while still managing to be spacious in the cabin. Meanwhile, the Kia Telluride, an SUV with third-row seating and space for seven, is one of the most recent additions to the Kia lineup. In between, there are a number of great options to choose from. When it comes to Kia vs. Hyundai, the Hyundai lineup features well-known SUVs like the Santa Fe and Tucson, along with exciting hybrid options like the Ioniq. Sedans like the Elantra carry plenty of cargo space and have enough leg- and headroom for even taller drivers and passengers.

Technology

These days, technology is all around us, including in our cars. Kia tech features include the UVO system, which integrates infotainment systems into a single interface to keep your car running at peak performance. With the UVO app on your smartphone, it takes just a few taps to connect to your car, whether you want to use hands-free calling, GPS, music, or roadside assistance.
