The 2021 Kia Sorento is an SUV that’s ready for any West Chester, Philadelphia, or Ardmore adventure. Whether you’re off to work in Springfield or heading out for the weekend in Exton or Wilmington, the Sorento can be the vehicle for you and the entire family. With its advanced tech features, seating for up to seven people, and abundant cargo space, there’s a lot to unpack when it comes to the Sorento. Jim Sipala’s Kia of West Chester is doing just that in this Kia Sorento configurations review, as we take a closer look at the different trim levels.
Sorento L
The base edition of the 2021 Sorento L comes with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is able to deliver 185 horsepower. Mated to a 6-speed Sportmatic® (automatic) transmission, it’s able to shift smoothly and handle the roads in an efficient manner. Inside the car, the three rows of seating allow you to have room for up to seven people at once. When the rear rows are folded, though, there’s plenty of cargo space, up to 73 cu. ft. That’s enough room for grocery bags or luggage for a weekend trip. Keep everyone entertained with standard Bluetooth® functionality allowing for wireless streaming of songs. You can also make hands-free phone calls. Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ are critical standard offerings. Set up your smartphone to the touchscreen and choose a new song, read text messages, or use navigation features.
Sorento LX/LX V6
With the LX trim, you’ll be able to enjoy a pair of additional USB ports, along with safety technology like Blind Spot Collision Warning with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning. The blind spot technology helps you pick up on vehicles you can’t see while providing lane change assistance when it’s needed. You’ll never have to look over your shoulder or peer over tall vehicles when backing out of a parking space thanks to rear cross traffic technology. The available 3.3-liter V6 engine delivers 290 horsepower and is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is your key to adventure, as it can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Sorento EX
The V6 engine comes standard on the EX trim, along with the 5,000-pound towing capability. If audio is something that’s important to you, the Harmon Kardon® Premium Sound System might be up your alley. This 12-speaker setup provides a crystal-clear sound for music, audiobooks, and podcasts. The cabin itself receives a seating upgrade, with supportive leather seats coming standard. The front seats are also heated, which can warm you up on those cold days. Safety-wise, Forward Collision Warning, Driver Attention Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist are always working together as one to help keep you safe.
Sorento SX
Want to ensure that fresh air and sunshine can get in? The standard panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade helps you do it. The glass panel will tilt or slide open for the just-right amount of light. The available Surround-View Monitor plays an important part in your safety, too. This camera will display a 360-degree view. When you put the Sorento in reverse, the four exterior cameras will help you navigate narrow spaces, while the rearview camera helps you see what’s going on when backing up.
Sorento SX Limited
The top trim of the Sorento is the SX Limited. It comes with essentially every major feature we’ve already discussed, with some add-ons. Included in the Sorento SX Limited:
- V6 engine
- Panoramic sunroof
- UVO eServices with Premium Navigation
- Nappa leather seat trim
- 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
- Second-row heated outboard seats
- 8-inch touchscreen
