2018 Kia Forte Review
The days of the practical and stuffy sedan are long gone. Today’s drivers want a car that looks smooth and is just fun to drive. People want cars that have a personality to match their style; cars that provide great safety, outstanding technology, and superior performance. Kia has built its entire reputation on that premise, and it shines through with the Forte.
It’s a new model year, now, and with a mid-cycle refresh to the Kia Forte last year, drivers in the whole West Chester and Philadelphia regions, from Ardmore to Springfield, and Exton to Wilmington, DE, are excited to see what to expect. Discover the performance ratings, safety, features, comfort, and technology you can expect when you get behind the wheel of the brand new 2018 Kia Forte.
2018 Kia Forte
As it just underwent a refresh last year, the current 2018 Kia Forte gets only a few minor tweaks to the packages available at various trim levels, mostly to make features more available, which is always a welcome upgrade. It’s available in three trim levels, and can be configurable as a sedan or a hatchback.
The base engine on the Forte is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder which delivers 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. It’s front wheel drive can be configured with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic, with the automatic being standard at all but the base level.
You can upgrade at the top EX trim to a 4-cylinder which gives you 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.
Technology and Features
Even at the base level, the available technology is impressive. It gives you a trip computer, power accessories, heated mirrors, and a sound system with four speakers, CD player, USB port, auxiliary jack, and satellite radio.
From here, you can upgrade to packages and features including things like cruise control, automatic lights, rearview camera, and the full UVO infotainment and telematics system, including: 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ functionality, six-speakers, LED taillights, adjustable drive modes, keyless entry and ignition, automatic climate control, heated seats, and more.
Active Safety Features
Available as options at lower trim levels and standard at upper levels, the Forte offers a complete suite of active safety features. These include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking, to help avoid and reduce the severity of collisions.
Driving and Comfort
The Forte accelerates strongly, and has great handling and outstanding brakes. The noise dampening technology ensures a serene ride, and the suspension does a great job of managing bumping and jarring on the road. The seats are well-padded and there’s plenty of room for passengers and cargo. Even if you’re taking a long ride, you’ll enjoy the experience of being in the Forte.
